Makeup Bag Monday #3 Stila, Covergirl, Kat Von D

As I stated last week, I'm in the process of moving this week, so I didn't want to commit to too much product testing. I am exhausted! Buying a house is a time consuming task. Thankfully, we've closed on our house (yipee!) and as of tonight, we'll be all moved in. As for makeup reviews:

Stila Perfect Me Perfect Hue Palette in Tan/Deep $39
Wowza! This is my first Stila palette, but it won't be my last. Every shade in this palette is highly pigmented, easy to blend and long-wearing. I am a huge fan of neutral tones and this palette did not disappoint. If you're in the market for new eyeshadows, check out Stila! This is my new favorite multi-purpose palette.

CoverGirl the De-Puffer Eye Concealer with Olay $13
I purchased the medium/deep shade which seems to be impossible to find online. I picked mine up from my local CVS but anyway, onto the review. This concealer is highly moisturizing, easy to spread, and offers a sheer to medium coverage. The metal applicator is …

Makeup Bag Monday #2

Last week I started Makeup Bag Monday - inspired by Serein Wu's series- on my blog and YouTube channel.
Makeup Bag Week 1 All of the items I've used this past week were drugstore.
Hard Candy Sheer Envy Dark Spot Correcting Primer $8 This definitely doesn't correct my stubborn dark spots, but I love that it provides a boost of hydration and radiance before my foundation.
Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Fresh Complexion Foundation $9 I've been searching for a holy grail drugstore foundation and it was hiding in my makeup collection all along. This provides a medium buildable coverage and a natural finish. This oil-free foundation wears all day if you set it with a powder and its extremely affordable too!  Superstay Better Skin Concealer by Maybelline $9 I wish I could love this, its long-wearing, full coverage, and doesn't crease under my eyes, Unfortunately the deepest shade (deep) is still too light for my taste so I can't wear it without adding some contour to coun…

Easy DIY Cream Blush

Besides foundation, blush is my favorite type of makeup.

To make cream blush from scratch you will need: Oil Beeswax Lanolin Kaolin Talc Oil Dispersible Titanium Dioxide Colorant Preservative and Antioxidant (optional but highly encouraged) I'm a huge proponent of creating by weight, not volume. When you create by weight (unintentional rhyme) your results will be the same every time, guaranteed. With volume, you're bound to get inconsistent/ inaccurate results because certain oils/powders have different densities. It's slightly confusing so for more information check out this awesome explanation by the Soap Queen.
Here is the basic recipe of the blush:

Oil 77% I used castor oil to make my blush but you can use something else if your skin type won't permit something so heavy. Castor oil is what gives most lipsticks their shine, so this particular blush has a luminous finish. If you have oily skin or just like a more matte less dewy looking cream blush, you should try grapese…

Makeup Bag Monday

Happy Monday! Welcome to my newly relaunched blog and a new series- Makeup Bag Monday. I've modeled this series after the amazing Serein Wu's MBM. Each Sunday I will pick out a few items from my makeup collection and test them out for the entire week. The next week I will give a thorough review of each item and let you know how it performs and if I think it's worthy of your hard earned money. As a makeup lover with hoarding tendencies, I am excited to use this series as a means to test out makeup items I've purchased but haven't used in a while.
For my first Makeup Bag Monday, I'm going with all drugstore items.
Hard Candy Sheer Envy Dark Spot Correcting Primer  I'll be testing out the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Dark Spot Correcting Primer as a base item. My skin is generally normal but with the changing seasons it is becoming quite dry in some places. I also have some acne issues and dark spots from post inflammatory hyperpigmentation- so my hope is that this p…
