Cosima Key Perfume Reviews

I ordered 3 samples on their opening day and Jen graciously provided me with four extras. I love perfumes and scents, but I am definitely a indie novice. I'll be sharing my first impressions as well as my husband's thoughts and ratings.

Cosima Key: Potent and animalistic! Not for the faint of heart, this scent is raw and smutty. Amber, ambergris accord, honey, rose musk, sandalwood, and beeswax.

Husband: Spicy, slightly masculine, but also floral. 4 out of 5.

Me: Feral smells like a combination of sweet spiced rum and a hint of bourbon. Overall, I enjoy it but I wouldn’t buy it in it’s full size. 3 out of 5.

Cosima Key: A gleaming, crisp fragrance. Clean cotton, sweet pea, lilac, and saffron threads.
Husband: Fresh and sugary. 3 out of 5.

Me: Floral laundry detergent. I love clean scents and the combination of floral notes really enhances this perfume oil. I could definitely this being an everyday scent for me. 5 out of 5.

Cosima Key: A watery and ethereal blend of pear, sweet pea, and lilac.

Husband: Spring, bouquet of flowers and the pool, also maybe a bit of permanent marker.  3.5 out of 5.

Me: This reminds me getting my hair done as a kid. It smells a bit like Pink's Hair Dressing and slightly of sweet blooming flowers. I can't separate the perfume from my memory so I don't know how to feel about this scent! 4 out of 5.

Cosima Key: Decidedly delectable while still maintaining an air of seductive mystery. Rich delicious vanilla topped with a ripe green fig.

Husband: Oh wow. Vanilla and a sweet bath and body works candle . 4 out of 5.

Me: Sweet vanilla latte without the espresso (i.e. a vanilla steamer). Very creamy, very sweet. 5 out of 5.

Cosima Key: A bright, cheerful, uplifting scent. Sicilian blood orange, fresh ginger and a gentle kiss of blooming jasmine.

Husband: Root beer barrel candy. Warm, inviting and sweet. 3.5 out of 5.

Me: Citrus and spice, a slight floral touch too. Also, I kinda smell root beer too. 4 out of 5.

Cosima Key: Natural, clean, and elegant. The scent of warm clean skin with a touch of Oregon fir needle.

Husband: Ohhh that's nice. Fresh and herbaceous. 5 out of 5.

Me: Grassy and clean. Quite masculine and piney. 4 out of 5.

Cosima Key: Reminiscent of entering a bustling import store. A smoldering, musky, heady scent. Exotic incense and a drop of clove.

Husband: Root beer and suntan lotion. 3.5 out of 5

Me: Sweet burning incense. This again reminds me of my childhood. 5 out of 5.

Overall I really enjoy the scents that I received from Cosima Key. Shipping was very fast and I appreciated the hand written note and extra samples from Jen. I had a very positive experience with Cosima Key!

Melisa Michelle Ulta Palette Swatches and Review | #MelisaMichelleXulta

In the past year, there have been multitudes of collaborations between beauty bloggers and big brands. Although I love the YouTube beauty community, I generally avoid purchasing collab palettes because they are generally:
Too expensiveDifficult to findOverpricedLower quality  Despite my general skepticism about YouTuber collabs, I was quite excited to see that Ulta Beauty gave LoveMelisaMichelle the opportunity to create a multi-purpose palette.

This palette contains 9 eyeshadows, one highlighter, a blush and a liquid to matte lipstick. The retail price is $20 and it can be purchased in-store on online at*. Since there is a slot for the liquid lipstick, the cardboard packaging is a little bit bulkier than ideal. Despite the slightly thicker than average size, the #MelisaMichelleXulta palette is perfect for travel. It contains everything you need (except bronzer) for a full face of makeup! On to the swatches.

The highlighter (named Hollerrr) is technically a trio of three pro…

Covering Hyperpigmentation and Acne Scarring with Makeup

If you are a woman of color, you may experience dark spots as a result of past pimples and regions of darkness on your skin. I decided to film how I use makeup to cover my hyperpigmentation and dark spots.

Hatomugi Skin Conditioner decanted into spray bottle - I use this to hydrate my cleansed skin, which tends to be quite dry. It also contains ingredients which can help heal hyperpigmentation and acne scarring.Stratia Liquid Gold My current favorite moisturizer, Liquid Gold is incredible. Hydrating but not overly greasy, this thin emulsion has quickly helped repair my moisture barrier.Vaseline- I use Vaseline to seal in the moisturizing goodness of Liquid Gold and Hatomugi Skin ConditionerL'Oreal Total Cover Foundation Cocoa 312 This new foundation is semi- controversial, people either love it or hate it. I think it's alright, albeit a bit too matte for my dry skin, when mixed with the concealer below however, the coverage is perfectly full and the finish nice and satin (in b…

Starting An Indie Makeup Company

I wrote this months ago on the eve of launching my indie makeup company: Squash Beauty, but decided to share it today with you lovely blog readers.
Every step of starting my own indie makeup company has been challenging- sourcing ingredients, creating amazing makeup, photographing said makeup, figuring out labeling, creating a website, marketing the business, pricing items so that I don't go bankrupt, figuring out shipping, selecting a soft launch date etc..
For those of you reading this and are also entrepreneurs, Hello and oh my gosh what have we gotten ourselves into? This is a lot of work! Despite the torturous existence that is the life of an entrepreneur, I wouldn't trade the long nights, early mornings, failed projects, and disappointing setbacks for anything. The last year of researching and developing the starting line of Squash Beauty has been an absolute blast and I'm so excited to be able to share that with the world on September 16th.
If you're wondering…
